Cascades Camp Blog

Well folks, as of today at lunch, the new staff house at Cascades has passed all of its inspections and is just days away from becoming a home!  Hiline (the company contracted to build the house) still has to come and do their last “walk-through” to make sure the home-owners is satisfied with their new house, but other than that their will be a bit of touch up painting to do and then by this time next week Rob, Becky, Maiya and Lucy should be all settled in!

Other than moving the Mohrweis’s stuff in, their are two main projects left:  landscaping and exterior paint.  Currently Dan Clifford is working on creating a front yard, driveway and backyard.  And the outside of the house will be painted when the weather warms up a bit more this Spring.

Updates from last week:  appliances (microwave, dishwasher, sink, etc…) are being installed, trim pieces are added, fixtures (towel bars and racks) have been put in place, and front, back and side decks have also been built (thank you Dan Clifford, handyman extraordinaire!)

We are literally just one week away from the projected move in date of March 5th.  Pray that the last details fall into place smoothly!

As you can see by the photographs above, the past few weeks has brought about a significant amount of progress to the new staff home.  Rob finished up the interior painting and then it was time for cabinets and more.  It was just earlier this week that linoleum was installed.  Carpeting, trim, and other final touches are still in the works, however, the previously set move in date of early March is an attainable goal!

 So here you have it folks.  The new staff home at Cascades has been taken over by some unknown animal-like species…

…well that isn’t entirely true.  In fact, it isn’t even partly true (unless you consider Rob to be more animal than human?).  What you see in the picture above is Rob Mohrweis spraying on primer in the master bedroom before he goes back through to add the actual paint.  If everything goes according to plan, the expected move-in date is right around the first of March.

Similar to last week, the greatest changes going on at the new staff home are happening inside.  So if you’ve been watching the webcam it might appear as if nothing has changed.  To the contrary, quite a bit of progress has been made on the house, including the addition of dry wall throughout the entire project.
